Duties

Johnstown Village requires a caretaker/groundskeeper for the following role with tasks including but nit limited to 
Role Purpose

The Caretaker/Groundskeeper will support the upkeep, appearance, and safety of the village by maintaining public spaces, green areas, and community facilities. This role is central to ensuring that the village remains clean, attractive, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and the wider community, and will contribute directly to Tidy Towns projects and competitions.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Village Maintenance

Maintain green areas, parks, and roadside verges (grass cutting, strimming, planting, watering).

Carry out litter picking, bin emptying, and general tidying of public spaces.

Plant, weed, and maintain flowerbeds, hanging baskets, and planters.

Support seasonal projects (spring planting, Christmas decorations, etc.).

Carry out minor repairs to street furniture, signage, and community facilities.

Health, Safety & Presentation

Keep pathways, walkways, and public areas safe and accessible.

Clear leaves, ice, or debris as needed.

Monitor condition of playgrounds, benches, bins, and report issues.

Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and safely stored.

Community Support

Work alongside Tidy Towns volunteers and local groups.

Assist with preparations for Tidy Towns inspections and judging.

Provide support during local events, festivals, and clean-up days.

Act as a visible presence in the community, promoting pride in the village.
