MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

ABOUT THE COMPANY & THE ROLE

Kavanagh Meats Enniscorthy ULC is a well-established and respected meat processing business based in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. Operating in a demanding, fast-paced factory environment, Kavanagh Meats is committed to the highest standards of quality, food safety, and operational excellence.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our engineering team. This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring the continued performance, reliability, and compliance of all plant machinery and equipment across the facility. The successful candidate will play a vital part in supporting production continuity and maintaining our strict food safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

	Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and fault-finding on a broad range of factory machinery and equipment.
	Install, commission, and upgrade mechanical systems and equipment in line with operational and regulatory requirements.
	Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults promptly to minimise production downtime.
	Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in compliance with food safety and audit requirements.
	Ensure all work is completed in accordance with current health and safety legislation, HACCP principles, and food hygiene standards.
	Collaborate closely with production, quality, and other engineering team members to support continuous improvement initiatives.
	Participate in on-call or out-of-hours cover arrangements as required by the business.
	Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and site safety rules at all times.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

	A recognised trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or a closely related discipline.
	Demonstrated experience working in a factory or industrial environment — experience within the food production or meat processing sector is strongly preferred.
	Proven ability to maintain, repair, install, and upgrade mechanical machinery and equipment.
	Sound working knowledge of health and safety obligations and food safety compliance standards (including HACCP) relevant to the food production sector.
	Good working proficiency in English, both oral and written, to communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and regulatory personnel.
	Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing priorities under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
	Strong attention to detail and a methodical, safety-first approach to all maintenance activities.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

	Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems commonly found in meat processing or food manufacturing facilities.
	Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
	Additional certification in manual handling, forklift operation, or working at height.
