We are seeking a Financial Officer to join our civil engineering business. The successful candidate will support the financial and commercial management of projects and the wider business, with a strong understanding of financial processes, contract documentation and commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor project costs, budgets, expenditure and financial performance.
Review contracts, commercial documentation and financial terms.
Assist with project forecasting, reporting and cost control.
Identify financial and commercial risks and highlight potential issues to management.
Work closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and the senior management team.
Review invoices, payment applications, variations and supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate financial records and prepare management reports.
Support the business with contract and commercial reviews as required.

Requirements:

Degree/Master’s qualification in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Commercial awareness with an understanding of the construction/civil engineering industry.
Experience in construction contracts, contract review or commercial management would be highly advantageous.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Good understanding of financial and commercial principles.
Ability to interpret contracts, identify key financial obligations and assess commercial risks.
Strong IT and Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience in civil engineering, construction contracts, Quantity Surveying, commercial management or project finance would be considered highly relevant.
