Job Title: HGC Mechanic Company name: Patrick Dore Plant Repair Ltd T/A Paddy Dore Commercials Location: Dock Road Limerick V94 A6XK Annual Salary: €36605.00 per annum Work Hours: 39 hr week Responsibilities: Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair of HGVs and trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, diesel engine, and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures. Remove, repair, replace, and reassemble defective vehicle components and systems. Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer and workshop standards. Prepare vehicles and trailers for CVRT testing and carry out any necessary repairs to ensure compliance with roadworthiness standards. Test vehicles following maintenance and repair work to verify performance, safety, and reliability. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment and comply with all health and safety procedures. Requirements: Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or in a similar vehicle maintenance role. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, suspension systems, steering systems, and heavy vehicle maintenance. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults. Experience carrying out servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs on commercial vehicles. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good attention to detail and commitment to high quality workmanship. Relevant technical training, certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience in heavy vehicle mechanics. Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
