Procurement Analyst is a specialist analytical role responsible for developing pricing strategy, conducting commercial data analysis, and leading supplier negotiation and category sourcing strategy to support the profitable expansion of the business. The role is decision-support and strategy focused, combining quantitative analysis, market intelligence, and commercial judgement to optimise margin, cost of goods, and supplier value across the retail network.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing strategy & analysis
Design and model pricing strategies across product categories using demand elasticity, competitor benchmarking, and margin analysis.
Develop dynamic and promotional pricing frameworks and evaluate their commercial impact through data modelling and scenario analysis.
Build and maintain analytical pricing models and forecasting tools to inform senior commercial decision-making.
Procurement & sourcing strategy
Develop category sourcing strategies and lead commercial negotiations with suppliers on price, terms, rebates, and value.
Conduct total-cost-of-ownership and supplier cost-base analysis to identify margin and efficiency opportunities.
Evaluate and recommend supplier selection based on commercial, quality, and strategic-fit criteria.
Commercial intelligence & advisory
Analyse market trends, cost drivers, and category performance to produce strategic recommendations for the leadership team.
Provide commercial insight to guide range architecture, margin planning, and expansion decisions.
Develop reporting frameworks and analytical dashboards that translate complex data into strategic recommendations.
Cross-functional strategy support
Partner with commercial, operations, and finance leadership to align pricing and sourcing strategy with business growth objectives.
Assess the commercial viability of new product categories and supplier partnerships as the business expands.
Qualifications & Experience
Third-level degree in Accounting & Finance, Commerce, Business Management, Economics, or a related discipline (essential).
Demonstrated analytical experience in pricing, procurement, commercial, or category analysis.
Advanced quantitative and data-modelling skills (financial modelling, cost analysis, forecasting).
Proven ability to conduct commercial negotiation and develop sourcing strategy.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders.
