Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Job Description: Childcare Assistant (CE Program)
Duties
This is a developmental opportunity; no previous childcare experience is necessary. Accredited training and support will be provided to support your career development.
The role involves:
•	Assisting childcare staff in providing a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children. 
•	Supporting age-appropriate play and educational activities. 
•	Assisting with indoor and outdoor activities under supervision. 
•	Supporting children during meal and snack times. 
•	Assisting with the daily routines of the childcare setting. 
•	Helping to prepare and tidy activity areas and equipment. 
•	Supporting positive interactions with children. 
•	Working as part of a team and following guidance from childcare staff. 
•	Developing childcare, communication and organisational skills through practical experience and training. 
Essential Skills
•	Good spoken and written English. 
•	A genuine interest in working with children. 
•	Good communication and interpersonal skills. 
•	A caring, patient and responsible approach. 
•	Ability to work as part of a team. 
•	Willingness to learn and undertake training. 
References & Garda Vetting
Two suitable references will be required if the candidate is shortlisted for the position.
Garda Vetting will be initiated by An Cosán if the candidate is considered suitable for the position.
