This work experience programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers that are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme. Your eligibility for this programme will have to be verified by the Department as part of the application process. If you are in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) you will be required to transfer to a Jobseekers payment in order to participate on the programme.
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. As part of the placement programme the successful participants would be trained in all aspects of the daily running and operations of a busy education & training academy. As a Kitchen Assistant you will play a crucial part in supporting and maintaining a busy work environment and gaining valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the centre and resourcing all aspects of the Kitchen Area. This placement is designed to provide you with practical skills and knowledge in food storage, hygiene management, stock management, and HACCP protocols. Exposure to industry-standard practices and procedures that can be applied in future roles. Supportive learning environment with guidance from experienced professionals in the field. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable practical experience. The Kitchen Assistants will be support the general running of Canteen & Kitchen areas providing catering to staff, students and visitors of Moyross Youth Academy. The placement will be in the main canteen & kitchen area of MYA, providing assistance in all aspects of preparation and provisions for all staff, students and visitors in addition to other related duties associated with the provision of a high quality standard of care and service. The participants will be trained in the following: • Maintaining a high standard of service provision • Appropriate use of materials and equipment. • Preparing & restocking of canteen/kitchen area for students, staff and visitors. • Maintaining hygiene conditions of canteen/kitchen and other related areas • Minimising Health & Safety risks while undertaking duties. • Reporting defects or hazards on-site to management • Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety and HACCP.
The participants will receive formal/informal training and mentoring in the following: Formal Training: Manual Handling HACCP training - accredited Standard operation procedures training Stock rotation training Informal Training: Workspace hygiene Effective Communication Skills Team work
