This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new facility opening in September 2024. The Service hopes to provide a Breakfast Club, ECCE Scheme, and Afterschool and place an emphasis on outdoor and child led play. The Room Leader will be responsible for the development, planning, and delivery of the daily operational running of the early years’ service. Duties & Responsibilities: To work within the overall aims and objectives of the service Work in partnership with management & staff, external support agencies, multidisciplinary professionals, parents and families to ensure best outcomes for each individual child Implementation to all policies and procedures within the setting To operate in line with relevant legislation, guidelines and regulations, including but not limited to, Health and Safety legislation and the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016. Ensure that all relevant records are maintained Ensure that confidentiality is fully observed in relation to the overall service and stakeholders Safeguard children and staff at all times Must have excellent knowledge of Aistear and Siolta Assume overall responsibility for a quality of early years’ provision, including physical, emotional, social and cognitive education and care for children in the service Develop both indoor and outdoor child-led activities in line with Aistear Create age appropriate activities for the children that addresses different types of play in line with Aistear Document children’s growth and learning regularly Create an enriching learning environment and organise materials and toys to the benefit of the children Lead and implement an inclusive practice relating to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Maintain rooms and equipment, clean the setting as appropriate, and adhere to the hygiene and cleaning policy Build partnerships and communicate effectively with all families in relation to their children’s well-being, development, and interests Work off site when needed - for example bus trips and visits to local amenities Support and mentor other members of the team in the room they are assigned to Attend & participate in support and supervision meetings Attend staff meetings for planning purposes and peer support as required Be in good health to meet the demands of the job Any other duties that may be assigned to you by Management Essential Qualifications and Skills NFQ/FETAC Level 6 in Early Childhood Care and Education Minimum 1 year work experience in a similar leadership role Ability to take direction and work as part of a team responsively and on your own initiative Kindness, warmth and responsiveness to the needs of children Excellent interpersonal skills Complete Garda Vetting A desire to help build a new childcare facility of the highest standard
