This work experience programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers that are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme. Your eligibility for this programme will have to be verified by the Department as part of the application process. If you are in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) you will be required to transfer to a Jobseekers payment in order to participate on the programme.


The participant will shadow and assist an existing Project Coordinator to gain hands-on experience in project coordination while developing key skills. 

Daily Tasks:
- Assist the Project Coordinator with scheduling team meetings and managing calendars
- Assist in preparing PowerPoint slides and Word documents for project status reports  
- Assist with communicating project details via email and phone to team members and stakeholders
- Assist with entering project data into Excel spreadsheets to track schedules, budgets, risks, and issues
- Assist with research by sitting in on stakeholder interviews and reviewing documentation
- Assist with administrative tasks such as printing, scanning, and filing project materials 
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
  Formal Training:
- 2 hours per week of instructor-led project management fundamentals training
- Online courses on Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint  
- Coaching on business writing skills for emails and reports
- Role-playing to practice communication and interpersonal skills  

Informal Training:
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to shadow problem-solving for project issues  
- Learn to organize hardcopy and electronic project files and documentation
- Shadow Project Coordinator to observe office processes, procedures, and etiquette
- Explore different time management techniques and apps to find effective approaches
