Parslickstown House Management CLG, is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status providing training and recreational facilities, work experience and support services to the local community. The community café operates at the hub of the house and provides a varied menu at affordable prices to targeted communities. The café also plays a key role in providing a welcoming space where members of the community feel welcome and have a place where they can enjoy good food, gain a pathway to further participation in other activities taking place in the house and socialize. Ensure the café premises, equipment and furnishings are properly maintained and to notify the Café Manager of any damages. Ensure that the café areas are clean, safe and hygienic at all times. Ensure that basic cleaning duties are carried out. Experience: Previous experience in working as a Cook in We are seeking an experienced Cook, to work as part of our team to prepare and cook meals in our busy community café. The cook must be able to work on their own initiative and provide cover for the café manager when they are on leave to ensure business as usual. The successful candidate will be required to speak English to a level that enables them to communicate with customers, take orders, write reports and provide to training to trainees working in the community café. The ability to follow café recipes and a working knowledge of food safety and hygiene protocols is required. This role requires someone with good communication skills, patience and who enjoys sharing their knowledge with trainees. Hours of work: 20 hours per week between 8am and 4pm. (must be flexible) Main Duties To prepare and cook meals in a busy café environment. To be able to follow café recipes. To cover duties of the café manager in their absence. To assist the Café Manager in maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen including completion of all relevant paperwork. To contribute to a working environment which supports equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice. To support staff and work with our trainees to gain work experience and training. To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time. To work alongside the Café Manager to ensure the service is delivered within budget and in a cost-effective manner. You will be required to attend a basic food hygiene course and any other training deemed essential by your employer. The priority of the café staff is to always provide a friendly and efficient full service to all of its customers which means: Maintaining the opening times as agreed Providing the full menu throughout the opening times of the café Providing customer with their stated preference without hesitation, unless the item is unavailable, in which cafe staff should offer an alternative. Ensuring that any cash expenditure for provisions for the café are covered by a receipt
