The role of HGV Driver mainly involves the collection and delivery of cargo on behalf of customers. Drivers may also be required to operate equipment including GP tankers for the carrying of bulk liquids, Ejector trailers for waste materials, curtain-sided trailers for dry goods, Fridges and flatbed trailers for larger goods which require restraint to secure them during transit. Training required will be given by the company; drivers will be signed off once training has been completed by an individual.
Drivers will be expected to work throughout Ireland but sometimes drivers will be required to deliver/collect product to and from the UK and Europe. On these occasions the company will endeavour to use drivers who are confident to drive in the UK and Europe. Hours of working will be dependent on our client’s requirements, drivers have to be flexible in their working time. Drivers will be contracted to work any 5 days out of seven with no set days. Drivers will be expected to work overtime if required in order to meet customer requirements. Start times will be assigned to drivers by the duty supervisor.  Overnights from base could be required at any time and drivers must ensure they have the necessary overnight gear at all times to react to business demands.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Operations:
To drive Category C+E vehicle and operate equipment safely, legally and efficiently as required.
To comply with all driver’s hours and Road Transport Directive legislation.
To load and unload vehicle and maintain safety and security of load at all times.
To carry out all necessary checks to ensure their vehicle is safe and legal and to follow appropriate procedures if it is not.
To act as company ambassador when dealing with customers.
To complete all paperwork and electronic returns promptly and accurately as required. 
To plan and adapt routes as necessary and give feedback to traffic office on any issues around load planning and routing.
To comply with all Health & Safety requirements in depot, on road and at customers premises and to take responsibility for ensuring own fitness to drive at all times. 
To comply with company operating procedures.
Highlight issues and work with other departments to implement solutions.
 
General:
