Mullingar EYE Project - 2 Youth Work Assistants The aim of this programme is to provide you with the skills to prepare you to return to work or education. It is particularly suited to those who would like to pursue a career in areas such as social or community work. You will achieve a QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) qualification which will enable you to obtain employment or progress to further education. All our Youth Work staff work in targeted disadvantaged areas of our region, namely Athlone, Mullingar and Tullamore. This post is to support the provision of activities in YOYO Youth Cafe, Music Jam, Sports and education programmes and other youth work programmes. General duties include supervision of young people from 10 to 21 in various project groups, co- facilitating a range of activities and programmes in Sport, Health Promotion, Education, Hobbies / Interests, Music and Regional / National Events. There will be some administration, facilitation of programmes, coaching of young people and opportunities at every turn for development. You will be required to participate in training as part of the programme. You will get opportunities to engage in various areas of youth work e.g. Youth Justice, Mental Health, and Community Development. Training will be both on the job and training course led, with opportunities to study from QQI level 4-6. There are also a range of developmental opportunities in the areas of Work Experience, Social and Societal Matters and General Life Skills. If you have any experience (voluntary or paid) of engaging with young people in perhaps a Sport, Hospitality, Education, Scouting, Music or ART setting we would like to hear from you.
