Entry requirements of this job:
That the driver holds a driving licence that is deemed equivalent to an CE or C1E driving licence/EC licence.

Tasks required by this job include:
Checks tires, brakes, lights, oil, water and fuel levels and general condition of the vehicle
Drives vehicle from depot to loading/unloading point;
Agrees to delivery schedule and route with transport management;
Assisting with loading/unloading and ensures that load is evenly distributed and safely secured;
Driving vehicle to destination in accordance with schedule;
Maintains records of journey times, mileage and hours worked;
Undertakes minor repairs and notifies supervisor of any mechanical faults.

Essential Knowledge: 
effective perception of transport environment, mechanical components of vehicles, road traffic laws, road transport legislation, types of cargo, vehicle cargo capacity.

Essential Skills and Competences: 
anticipate foreseeable problems on the road, control the performance of the vehicle, interpret traffic signals, maintain concentration for long periods, operate GPS systems, parallel park vehicles, practice emergency stops, read maps, stay alert, supervise loading of cargo, supervise unloading of cargo, use communication devices, use different communication channels.
