Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.



Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

Southside Travellers Action Group is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a welcoming and supportive environment for Traveller children and young people, while serving as a positive role model and advocate.
	Demonstrate attitudes and qualities of a positive role model for children and young people.
	Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for young people to thrive.
	Exhibit effective communication skills and a youth-friendly approach.
	Work in an environment that is young person-centred and responsive to their needs.
	Attend youth planning sessions and collaborate with the team leader.
	Complete assigned tasks and contribute to the overall success of the program.
	Develop and maintain relationships of unconditional regard, respect, and care with Traveller children, young people, and their families.
	Implement a specific and appropriate program that responds proactively to the needs of Traveller children and young people.
	Engage with children, young people, and the significant adults in their lives on an ongoing basis.
	Work with the youth team and funders to identify additional resources to support the ongoing and potential programmes.
	Support and represent Southside Travellers at various agency meetings.
	Build links with service providers to ensure Traveller children and young people have access to the necessary resources.
	Comply with all health and safety policies and record any incidents.
	Participate in planning meetings, team meetings, and continuous education (CE) meetings.
	Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or line manager.
	Attend trainings as identified to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with children and young people.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for Traveller children and young people.
