Eurofins Pathology, a part of Eurofins Scientific Group. The laboratory provides a full laboratory service from wet tissue receipt, through technical processing and specialist reporting by a team of Consultant Histologists.

Senior Medical Scientist/Senior Biomedical Scientist

Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist and an integral part of the department’s team, the successful candidate will have practical experience in Cellular Pathology and the relevant histology knowledge. As a competent experienced medical scientist with a flexible approach to work, you will be required to rotate through all the functions of a histopathology laboratory including cut–up/dissection, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains.
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious professional, working presently in a Senior Medical/Biomedical Scientist role in Histology ideally, who is looking to advance their specific Histology focussed career with us.
Training and development support will be given to you to help your progression within the organisation.
Qualifications:
Education
• Holder of Bachelor’s degree- At least 5 years’ experience as a Basic Grade Medical Scientist
or
Holder of Master’s degree- At least 2 years' experience as Senior Medical Scientist specifically in a working medical Histology laboratory
AND
Candidates must be able to provide evidence that they are fully registered to practice as a Medical Scientist, with CORU or as Biomedical Scientist with HCPC.
Experience
• 5 years’ experience specifically in a working medical Histology lab
Extensive experience of scientific work in the Histology laboratory, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains, and specifically in Dissection & Cut-Up
Skills and Abilities
•A diligent, strong work ethic with the ability to work independently, with thorough attention to detail and accuracy, and not afraid to ask for assistance from experienced colleagues to ensure an outstanding laboratory service.
•Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
•A proven team player
