The Sea Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) is seeking an experienced and driven Fisheries Control Specialist (Higher Executive Officer) to play a role in the development and delivery of Ireland’s fisheries control system. This is an important role within the Fisheries and Food Support Unit, with responsibility for supporting the SFPA in fulfilling its regulatory mandate. 

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of effective fisheries control systems, technical guidance, and training programs to ensure compliance, consistency and continuous improvement across Ireland’s fisheries control framework. The successful candidate will provide technical input across a range of regulatory functions, lead innovative projects and represent the SFPA– Ireland’s competent authority for fisheries control as required, contributing to policy development and promoting best practices in official controls.

Essential Requirements:
	Possess a relevant third level qualification (NFQ Level 7) such as Fisheries, Marine Science or Science, Law, Policy, Regulatory or related discipline.
	Minimum of three years’ relevant work experience preferably in a fisheries control regulatory area in a technical role such as implementing regulation, compliance, monitoring, management and technical, ideally with exposure to operational or national-level functions .
	Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex legislation, and to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance or operational procedures
	Proven experience in drafting and delivering technical or regulatory documentation, training materials, or guidance notes.
	Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders at a range of levels.
