This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.


This placement at the golf course is for an Assistant Green Keeper to work closely under our Green Keeper Supervisor. This assistant will be tutored in raking the bunkers, cutting holes and moving tee markers to the right place. The position will be fully supported and mentored by our Green Keeper Supervisor. Assisting the team on the upkeep and maintenance of the Course. Assisting with the grass maintenance techniques, trimmings and cutting of trees and shrubs around the course. The participant will gain practical day to day experience on the following: Planning and managing the control of weeds, pest and disease The irrigation systems and the course drainage systems Feeding and watering of grass, shrubs and greenery The participant will assist the Green Keeper Supervisor with deliveries from suppliers and check paperwork The participant will learn how to work as part of a team with a good ethic On a daily basis they will be mentored in Health and Safety, identifying risk, administration of stock, products and customer service 
 
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
