First Year Apprentice Vacancy Farm Manager Apprentice Co. Meath Apprentice Description: A dairy herdperson to assist and learn from father/son family partnership and one other staff member to manage the 300 dairy cow herd. Location: Based 10km from Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland The Farm: A 300 dairy spring calving herd milked through a 24/48 herringbone parlour, excellent facilities including auto drafting, auto scrapers and modern calf rearing facilities, all major tasks including silage, slurry, fertiliser, AI, hoof paring and calf de-horning are done by contractors, and the apprentice would be expected to occasionally assist the contractors to learn each task on the farm. The apprentice would get milking experience, a good understanding of grass measuring, safe operation of farm machinery, heat detection, calving and calf rearing among other farm activities. The Applicant: must be primarily be interested in dairy farming and enthusiastic and willing to learn. Good humour and a willing team player are essential qualities. Expected working hours: 6am - 3pm or 9am - 6pm and 2 dyas off/week. Accommodation: A well-equipped, modern, clearn, self-contained two bed, newly constructed log cabin approx. 100m away from the farmyard. Remuneration: Good basic salary subject to negotiation but will depend of ange and experience with off to attend apprenticeship course.
