This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
This is a Work Experience Placement Programme so full training will be provided to the participant. We welcome someone on a work placement to gain experience as an Assistant Caretaker in our Gala Shop. The participant will be mentored in customer service. On a daily basis, you will be assisting the team in the tidying & maintaining of Shop, reporting any repairs or defects. We will train you on all firefighting equipment, alarm system and emergency lighting, how to carry out regular visual inspections of all equipment located within the building and the grounds of the property. Assisting the team to ensure standards are met and operating procedures are followed in identifying risk, Health & Safety and GDPR. The participant will receive all training and will be supported by a mentor on the placement. The participant will gain practical knowledge in a busy Shop environment. The participant will learn how to work as part of a team with a good work ethic.
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
