The SICAP Development Officer (Just Transition) will report to their SICAP Coordinator and contribute to the implementation of the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) in Co. Clare. Working as part of the wider SICAP team. The role will; Provide specific climate justice and just transition supports to community groups, hard to reach target groups and social enterprises around the county. Work with these groups to design projects and actions that will help to address the just transition issues which affect them. Support the implementation of actions in the CLDC Climate Justice & Just Transition Action Plan. Work closely with local community groups and key stakeholders on collaborative projects. Support and add value to ongoing interagency work. Support the development of a wide range of just transition and circular economy projects in Co. Clare. Contribute to the development of collaborative just transition projects with other CLDC programmes and initiatives. Co-ordinate and collaborate with the CLDC LEADER team in the delivery of CLDC Climate Justice Action Plan actions. Assist SICAP registered groups and social enterprises with applications for SICAP community and social enterprise grants and with the drawdown of funds. This role is based in Ennis and requires travel and countywide outreach on a regular basis. Priority Target Groups: People living in disadvantaged communities, people with disabilities, new communities, Travellers and Roma. Target groups and communities identified under the CLDC Climate Justice Action Plan. Essential: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in community development, climate justice or related field An interest in and understanding of climate justice and just transition. A clear understanding of the climate justice challenges facing marginalised groups Experience of working with and facilitating marginalised community groups Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong administration and computer literacy skills Full driver’s licence and access to a car Desirable: Demonstrate ability to handle multiple priorities and to maintain high level of confidentiality. Ability to work flexibly in a changing and unpredictable environment and communicate calmly and clearly with people who may be experiencing trauma and uncertainty. Ability to organise, good time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines. Demonstrate initiative, diplomacy, problem solving and analytical skills necessary for supporting and implementing change. Have a strong focus on equality, non-discrimination, social inclusion and participation. Strong networking skills and ability to work with different types of stakeholders. Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to use social media to promote and support community activities.
