Job Summary:
The caretaker is responsible for maintaining the schools premises, grounds, and facilities in a clean, safe, and functional condition. This role includes general maintenance, security duties, operating machinery such as tractors, and supporting school events to ensure a conducive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
•	Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all school buildings, classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas.
•	Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting.
•	Operate and maintain grounds keeping machinery including tractors, lawnmowers, and other equipment used for the upkeep of sports fields and landscaping.
•	Ensure all school facilities and equipment are functioning properly and report significant maintenance issues to management.
•	Secure the school premises by locking/unlocking buildings, monitoring alarms, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
•	Assist in setting up rooms and equipment for school events, assemblies, and other activities.
•	Manage waste disposal, recycling, and maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas including playgrounds and sports fields.
•	Respond promptly to emergencies such as leaks, electrical faults, or safety hazards to minimize disruption.
•	Maintain and operate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems as needed.
•	Keep an inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and ensure timely replenishment.
•	Adhere to all health and safety regulations and contribute to creating a safe school environment.
•	Assist with other duties related to the upkeep and smooth running of the school environment as assigned.




Qualifications and Skills:
•	Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities maintenance, or grounds keeping role preferred.
•	Valid driving license required; experience driving tractors and other grounds machinery would be ideal.
•	Basic skills in building maintenance and minor repairs.
•	Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as tractors and lawn equipment.
•	Good organisational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•	Strong reliability, responsibility, and good communication skills.
•	Awareness of health and safety standards and practices.
•	Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, or weekends when necessary.
Physical Requirements:
•	Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
•	Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
