This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Valeries Clothes Care is a busy community based dry cleaners based in the busy rural town of Virginia in Co. Cavan. The eligible participant will receive full training in all aspects of the placement. There will be a mentor there to guide and coach the participant. They will assist and learn the day-to-day duties of the job, over the 6 months they will be : • Mentored to identify and separate linen by their specific garment care instruction, classification and client • Trained to feed on the industrial ironers and towel folding machine, following the correct procedures • Given guidance on machine process and programming following specific dry cleaning procedures • Supported in learning pressing techniques for different garment classifications. • If time allows over the six month periods, will advance to Spotting & Pre-brushing techniques for specialised garments • Client will be supported in training for customer service skills at front of house and advancing English language skills as necessary They will be monitored by the shop manager and all training records both formal and informal will be given to the candidate on their finishing of experience placement.
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. The participant will receive formal/informal training and mentoring in the following: Formal Training: WPEP QQI Work Experience Module Manual Handling Chemical Safety in the Workplace Informal training: They will be mentored and trained in the following: Customer Service Health & Safety Team work Use of Equipment & Tools
