The Role: You will lead in a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience. To co-ordinate the design team to deliver the required outputs for a portfolio of projects under the guidance of a design manager. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who can demonstrate the following attributes: Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation. An in-depth knowledge of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and clients Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages of a project Ability to manage design delivery and project manage Leadership skills to manage and motivate individuals to consistently deliver Willingness to contribute to and develop technical knowledge networks A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland (where our head office is based) would be advantageous to help support our overall workload. Main Duties and Responsibilities: The main duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer are outlined as follows: Reporting to the Design Manager. Part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible to produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants. Responsible for assisting in all aspects of mechanical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing. Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment; hydraulic calculations and production of detailed design construction drawings. Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaising with clients and subcontractors. Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture. Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to. Monitoring of design delivery performance and efficiency, adjusting and reacting as necessary to ensure targets are achieved and ensuring the MIDP is kept up to date. Produce mechanical design outputs as and when required. Ensure Glanua & the Clients’ Technical Requirements are met throughout the design. Conduct regular meetings with project delivery teams to allocate resources, monitor the plan and adjust as necessary in consultation with the project delivery teams. Monitor and update Design Change Control. Liaise between Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil & Structural Designers
