LCV Mechanic – Full-Time, Permanent Company: Shaws Commercials Location: Castlebay, Co. Mayo Salary: €18–€23 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: 39–45 hours per week Contract: Permanent Shaws Commercials are seeking an experienced and reliable LCV Mechanic to join our team in Castlebay, Co. Mayo. The role involves the maintenance, servicing, and repair of light commercial vehicles, with particular focus on Renault Master and Opel vans. This full-time permanent position offers competitive pay and long-term stability within a busy workshop environment. Key Duties Service, maintain, and repair light commercial vehicles (LCVs) Conduct diagnostics, fault-finding, and electrical troubleshooting Perform routine inspections, scheduled servicing, and preventative maintenance Work with Renault Master, Opel, and other similar van models Complete repairs efficiently to minimise downtime and ensure roadworthiness Prepare vehicles for test and complete relevant compliance checks Maintain accurate service records and job documentation Ensure all work meets Health & Safety, RSA, and company standards Perform additional duties as required by management Requirements Relevant mechanical qualification (e.g., National Craft Certificate, City & Guilds, Level 6, or equivalent) Minimum 3 years’ experience working on LCVs or commercial vans Strong experience working with Renault Master or Opel models (essential or highly desirable) Excellent diagnostic, mechanical, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and within a team Good organisational skills and high attention to detail Proficiency in English (written and verbal) Physically fit to carry out mechanical tasks safely Desirable Experience with electrical systems, diagnostics tools, and modern LCV technology Previous experience in a fast-paced workshop environment Shaws Commercials offer a strong, long-term opportunity for an experienced LCV mechanic with a solid technical background and a commitment to quality workmanship
