The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint a talented individual to a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Modern South American History. This post will be based in the Department of History, and its primary purpose will be to engage in teaching and research on any aspect of the history of South America from the early nineteenth century to the present day, to contribute to the School of Histories and Humanities’ successful M.Phil programmes in Environmental History and in International History, and to supervise postgraduate research in their area of expertise.
 
The successful applicant must have a PhD in History or a related field, and we would especially welcome applications from candidates whose research interests and teaching experience will complement and extend the Department of History’s existing strengths with, for example a research specialization in any aspect of the environmental, socio-economic, cultural, or political history of modern South America.  The successful applicant must demonstrate a proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in modern South American history.
 
Post status: 5 Yr Tenure Track

         Teaching statement (summarising teaching experience and approach – maximum of 1 A4 page).
         Outline of a semester-long research-based module suitable for students at either final year undergraduate or M.Phil level (maximum of 2 x A4 pages).
