Darraglynn Nursing Home is a purpose-built, single-storey facility set in mature landscaped gardens in Douglas, Cork. We provide high-quality care for 26 residents in a warm, friendly environment.

We are currently seeking for Healthcare Assistants to join our dedicated team.

Role Overview

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work as part of our care team to ensure the comfort, dignity, and well-being of our residents. This is a hands-on role, requiring compassion, reliability, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and nights where required.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities

Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities (e.g. washing, dressing, toileting)
Assist residents with mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment
Support residents during mealtimes, including assistance with feeding where necessary
Monitor and record residents’ health and well-being, reporting changes promptly to duty Nurse
Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records in line with policies and procedures
Promote dignity, respect, and independence in all interactions with residents
Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
Participate in activities to support residents’ social, emotional, and recreational needs
Work collaboratively with nurses, care staff, and other team members
Adhere to all health, safety, and infection control guidelines
Requirements

QQI / FETAC Level 5 qualification in Care of the Older Person / Health Care Support or equivalent (essential)
Previous experience in a nursing home setting is desirable, but training will be provided
Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Genuine interest in working with older people
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns, including weekends and nights
