Catering Assistant – Mullingar | Healthcare Catering Job We are recruiting a Catering Assistant for a busy healthcare facility in Mullingar, supporting kitchen, ward and canteen services across the site. This is a key position within the healthcare catering team, helping to deliver nutritious meals safely and ensuring food service areas are kept to the highest hygiene and compliance standards. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in hospital catering, healthcare food service, or high-volume kitchen environments, and who are looking to develop their skills within a clinical setting. Key Responsibilities Assist in preparing and serving meals and beverages in line with dietary and portion guidelines Support ward meal delivery and provide respectful assistance to patients during mealtimes Maintain high hygiene standards across kitchens, canteen areas, equipment and preparation spaces Follow HACCP, food safety and infection control procedures at all times Correctly store, label and rotate food to maintain freshness and minimise waste Help run canteen operations to ensure a smooth, efficient and customer-focused service Keep kitchen and canteen pantries organised, stocked and ready for daily service Follow proper waste disposal and recycling practices Work collaboratively with catering, canteen and ward teams to support safe and reliable food service Requirements 6–12 months’ catering or kitchen experience (experience in healthcare catering or hospital kitchens an advantage) Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards Legal right to work in Ireland and ability to complete Garda Vetting Ability to provide five years of verifiable work references Strong teamwork, reliability and communication skills High commitment to hygiene and infection control requirements Flexibility to work various daytime shifts across a weekly roster, including weekends and Bank Holidays Salary & Benefits €17.53 per hour Double Pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays Full-time daytime hours, typically 7:00am–6:30pm, working 5 days over 7 A meaningful role contributing directly to patient wellbeing and daily healthcare operations Ongoing placement opportunities and professional development Supportive team environment within a well-established healthcare facility Competitive pay scale with scheduled reviews recognising growth and contribution
