JKI Environmental is seeking applications for the position of Ecologist to join our team based in Cork.

To meet our growing business needs and future development aspirations, JKI Environmental is seeking a talented mid or senior level Ecologist to join our team. 

About The Role:
•	Working with the existing team on ecological and environmental aspects on a diverse range of projects.
•	Preparation of Screening for Appropriate Assessment and Natura Impact Statement reports.
•	Preparation of Ecological Impact Assessments reports, Invasive species surveys and Management Plans.
•	Undertaking field work including surveys, visual assessments and ecological site walkovers.
•	Liaising and co-ordinating with clients and sub-contractors through various stages of a project.

Key Skills/Attributes:
•	A hard working and motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and team approach.
•	A proven track record of working on and delivering Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment processes is required.
•	Demonstrated field survey experience in ecology e.g. habitat classification (Fossitt), bat, bird, tree, and invasive species surveys.
•	Familiar with relevant Irish and European legislation e.g. Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, EIA Directive, and transposing Irish Regulations.
•	Ability to record and process data efficiently and methodically.

Requirements:
•	Certified qualification in ecology, or a related discipline.
•	A minimum of 4 years work experience in a similar role would be beneficial.
•	Excellent organisational and communication skills.
•	Strong report writing skills and excellent attention to detail is required.
•	Ability to work well in a team.
•	Membership of a recognised environmental professional body such as CIEEM would be an advantage.
•	Be willing to work in the field as well as office based. Some travel throughout Ireland and occasional overnights away from home.
•	Strong IT skills. Experience with GIS software such as AutoCad Map3D or QGIS an advantage.
•	Full clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
