We are seeking a highly experienced  Painter & Decorator (Senior Position) to join our renovation team. This position is strictly suited to a professional with advanced technical knowledge and specialist decorative skills, capable of delivering bespoke, high-end finishes within residential and mixed-use renovation projects.
The role goes far beyond standard painting and requires artisan-level execution, deep material knowledge, and the ability to work independently to exacting quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Full assessment and preparation of complex substrates including plaster, concrete, timber, MDF, lime-based and previously coated surfaces.
Advanced surface correction: skim repairs, joint rectification, micro-filling, moisture diagnosis, and multi-stage sanding.
Execution of specialist decorative finishes, including:
Marble-effect and stone-effect imitation walls
Faux finishes replicating natural minerals and stone
Textured walls using layered compounds and specialist tools
Multi-colour, layered and depth-effect wall systems
Application of specialist coatings: oil-based, water-based, mineral, limewash, breathable and decorative systems.
Precise colour matching, blending, sealing, and protection of decorative finishes.
Strict control of drying times, curing conditions, and environmental factors.
Operation of professional spraying and finishing equipment where required.
Coordination with other skilled trades to ensure correct renovation sequencing.
Full compliance with Irish Health & Safety regulations and site protocols.
Mandatory Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ proven experience as a Painter & Decorator in high-spec renovation or specialist decorative finishing.
Demonstrable experience (portfolio or evidence) of marble, stone, textured and multi-colour decorative walls.
Advanced understanding of surface behaviour, adhesion, and decorative failure prevention.
Ability to interpret technical data sheets, method statements, and bespoke finish specifications.
Exceptional attention to detail, manual dexterity, and tolerance for precision work.
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
Strong reliability, punctuality, and commitment to C&Y Renovations’ quality standards.
