HGV Drivers required to work for Plassey Food and Distribution Co Ltd, Rathkeale Industrial Estate Rathkeale Co. Limerick.  Must hold a Category C licence, Tacho Card and CPC card or equivalent.  Suitable candidates will need a  clean driving history and a min of 2+ years experience.  

Tasks required by this job include:
checks tyres, brakes, lights, oil, water and fuel levels and general condition of the vehicle;
drives vehicle from depot to loading/unloading point;
agrees delivery schedule and route with transport management;
assists with loading/unloading and ensures that load is evenly distributed and safely secured;
drives vehicle to destination in accordance with schedule;
maintains records of journey times, mileage and hours worked;
undertakes minor repairs and notifies supervisor of any mechanical faults.

Essential Knowledge: effective perception of transport environment, mechanical components of vehicles, road traffic laws, road transport legislation, types of cargo, vehicle cargo capacity

Essential Skills and Competences: anticipate foreseeable problems on the road, control the performance of the vehicle, interpret traffic signals, maintain concentration for long periods, operate GPS systems, parallel park vehicles, practice emergency stops, read maps, stay alert, supervise loading of cargo, supervise unloading of cargo, use communication devices, use different communication channels.
