The Process Engineer (Extrusion & Thermoforming) is responsible for developing, controlling, and continuously improving extrusion and thermoforming manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality, safety compliance, and optimal production efficiency. The role supports the full production lifecycle including process set-up, validation, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement, ensuring that machine and tooling parameters are correctly established and maintained in line with customer specifications and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The Process Engineer will act as the technical process expert for sheet extrusion and plug-assisted thermoforming, establishing and maintaining process parameters such as cycle times, temperatures, pressures, and tooling conditions to achieve stable, controlled production and repeatable product quality while reducing scrap and improving yield. The position will lead technical troubleshooting and root cause investigations for process and product issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve overall line performance. The role works closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to optimise tool changeovers and line start-up activities, reduce downtime, and improve productivity across all production lines. The engineer will ensure process condition sheets and production documentation are accurate, up to date, and correctly followed, and will support quality gauge set-up, testing requirements, and the control of non-conforming materials in line with internal procedures. The Process Engineer will also provide technical training and guidance to operators, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain compliance with safety procedures and relevant local regulations. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong independent working ability, attention to detail, and proven experience in manufacturing process optimisation within extrusion and thermoforming environments.
