• Carry out assigned and delegated responsibilities involving direct care and all activities of daily living in line with the HIQA standards. 
• Understand and adhere to all relevant HSE policies, guidelines and procedures, comply with Health & Safety and Risk Management Procedures.
• Assist residents with their ADL’s with respect and dignity. 
• Have a working knowledge of HIQA standards, Hand Hygiene, Infection Prevention and Control, etc.
• Safeguarding awareness.
• To report any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of the service users and to take appropriate action?
• To report any breakage or malfunction of equipment to the nurse in charge or to the family. 
• To ensure effective and appropriate communication with staff, patients, relatives and visitors, maintaining confidentiality at all times. 
• To ensure that knowledge and skills are updated to maintain safe standards of care and treatment of the residents. 
• To assist with transport of residents to OPD appts.
• Awareness of COVID -19 management and strict compliance with the guidelines. 
• Apply universal precautions at all times to minimise the risk of cross infection on the unit.
 • Preparing hot meals. 
• To ensure that the client has taken his/ her medication.
 • To assist with laundry and general duties to ensure a clean, hygienic and clutter free environment for the client in home setting. 
• To do the necessary chores in home setting.
