Patrick Bergin & Son has a vacancy for an HGV CAT C+E Driver to join our Kilkenny base, at 6 & 7 Purcellsinch Business Park, Kilkenny, Ireland. If you hold a current C+E Licence/CPC & Tachograph Card and are customer service focused, motivated and enthusiastic and are looking for an opportunity to further your career, please apply! Primary Purpose of the Role: To load, transport and deliver dry goods in a prompt, professional and safe manner in accordance with Company and legal standards. To ensure truck and maintenance schedules/paperwork are completed accurately and on time. HGV CAT C+E DRIVERS Container/Curtainsider/Box Van assignments/Tipper/Flatbed Overnights required Full-Time Contract Long Established Professional Company Well Maintained Fleet In House Maintenance 16.25 euro per hour 45 hours per week Criteria C+E Driving Licence Valid CPC Digital Tachograph Card Dublin/Cork Port Pass/Access Cards 2 year Driving Experience Good Geographical experience ROI/NI Excellent Customer Service A good Standard of English Job description: Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules and legal driving limits. Comply with road traffic laws and EU tachograph regulations (e.g., driving/rest time). Load Handling Ensure cargo is correctly loaded, secured, and balanced to prevent shifting during transit. Inspect loads for damage or compliance with regulations. Assist in loading/unloading when required Documentation & Records Maintain accurate delivery logs, bills of lading, CMR documents (international transport). Use tachograph systems to record driving time, breaks, and rest periods. Complete and submit daily vehicle inspection reports. Ensure all customs documentation is correct for cross-border transport Vehicle Maintenance & Safety Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle. Report mechanical issues promptly to the fleet manager or workshop. Keep the vehicle clean, roadworthy, and legally compliant (e.g., lights, brakes, tyres). Customer Service & Communication Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse personnel. Represent the company professionally at delivery and collection sites. Handle delivery paperwork, signatures, and confirm receipt with clients. Legal & Compliance Responsibilities Follow EU and national regulations on driving hours and rest periods. Adhere to all HGV licensing, insurance, and health & safety requirements. Comply with company policies on conduct, security, and cargo confidentiality. Other Responsibilities Navigate using GPS, maps, or route planning tools. Manage time effectively to meet tight schedules.
