What you'll do Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning operations across classrooms, labs, offices, and communal areas. Allocate tasks and schedules to ensure all areas are covered and cleaning standards are met. Conduct regular inspections to maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene. Train, support, and coach cleaning staff on correct procedures, equipment use, and safety practices. Monitor staff attendance and performance, addressing issues and ensuring adequate shift coverage. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, including COSHH and safe use of chemicals and PPE. Maintain strong communication with university facilities teams, responding quickly to requests or complaints. Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring cleaning materials and equipment are available and well-maintained. Coordinate cleaning for events such as open days, graduations, and high-traffic periods. Complete required documentation and reports, including inspections, incidents, and operational updates. What you'll bring Previous experience supervising cleaning teams or working as a senior cleaner. Strong understanding of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to organise workloads and manage time effectively. Knowledge of health & safety requirements (including COSHH). Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
