This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.


Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

A position is available to work alongside the gardening team at St Joseph’s Home. Experience the seasonal tasks required to keep the grounds looking their best. During the placement you will gain hands-on experience working with experienced staff members. 

Throughout the placement you will learn and assist with:
• Supporting landscaping and garden maintenance. 
• Handling stock, organising tools, and assisting with deliveries. 
• Upkeep and maintenance of premises and outdoor areas including gardens and upkeep of storerooms.

This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

Formal Training:
Use of Gardening Tools/Machinery
Basic lawn care 
Basic hedge maintenance 
QQI Work Experience Module 20 Hours

Health and Safety, maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for both staff and customers
Teamwork Skills
