Job Description First Year Apprentice Vacancy Kemek Ltd is a medium sized company with 55 employees. Our Head Office is in Clonagh, Enfield, Co. Kildare and we have 3 other locations in Ballygiblin (Cork), Kilkelly (Mayo) and Carrickfergus (Antrim). Summary of Requirements: The Apprentice Electrician will work under the supervision of qualified electricians to learn, develop, and apply electrical trade skills in compliance with industry regulations. The role combines hands-on practical training with classroom-based learning as part of the formal apprenticeship programme Essential for the role: * Leaving Certificate or equivalent with a minimum of D grade in Ordinary Level Maths and ideally a technical subject. * Successfully completed the Ishihara Colour Vision Test with a registered optician. Proof of this test must be emailed when applying for the apprenticeship. * Previous work experience in construction, maintenance, or a technical environment (even informal / summer work). * Must meet eligibility criteria to register for a SOLAS Electrical Apprenticeship Main Duties and Responsibilities: * Support the Health and Safety goals of the business and ensure compliance with all EHS requirements. * Compliance with work instructions, procedures, site rules and company policy. * Assist qualified electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. * Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical plans. * Install wiring, conduits, lighting systems, sockets, switches, and other electrical components. * Perform basic electrical tasks such as cable pulling, drilling, mounting, and testing under supervision. * Support with troubleshooting electrical faults and carrying out routine inspections * Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition. * Attend required off-the-job training modules (Phase 2–7) as part of the SOLAS apprenticeship framework * Complete logbooks, assessments, and competency documentation as required. * Assist in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including the National Wiring Rules (I.S. 10101). Additional Skills that will be obtained in this role: * Basic PLC and SCADA programming and design. * Instrumentation installation, testing and calibration. * Knowledge of VSD’s, pumps, motors, valves etc. * Process safety and industrial automation. * The chance to be part of a small and innovative team, working with market leading technology. * Manual dexterity and good hand–eye coordination. * Strong work ethic and reliability. * Attention to detail. * Ability to work in varied environments (e.g., industrial, commercial, domestic sites). * Basic understanding of tools and electrical equipment (training provided).
