As a horticultural worker at Laguna nurseries ltd you will perform tasks to cultivate, maintain, and harvest plants, crops, and trees. Planting and Propagation: Sowing seeds, planting bulbs, taking cuttings, grafting, or transplanting seedlings and plants. Crop Maintenance: Watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, and mulching to promote healthy growth. Pest and Disease Control: Monitoring plants for pests or diseases, applying pesticides or organic treatments, and removing affected plants. Soil Preparation: Testing and amending soil, tilling, and preparing beds for planting. Harvesting: Picking fruits, vegetables, flowers, or other crops at optimal times, ensuring quality and minimal damage. Equipment Operation: Using and maintaining tools like shovels, pruners, sprayers, or machinery such as tractors or mowers. Key Requirements: Physical Fitness: Ability to perform labour-intensive tasks like lifting, bending, and standing for long periods, often outdoors in varying weather. Plant Knowledge: Basic understanding of plant care, growth cycles, and identification; familiarity with common pests and diseases. Technical Skills: Proficiency with tools (e.g., pruners, shovels) and equipment (e.g., mowers, sprayers); ability to maintain and operate them safely. Attention to Detail: Precision in tasks like pruning, planting, or applying treatments to ensure plant health and quality. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals (e.g., pesticides, fertilizers) and adherence to workplace safety protocols. Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively, follow instructions. Adaptability: Flexibility to handle seasonal tasks or changing priorities, such as harvesting or preparing for weather shifts. Education/Training: Vocational training in horticulture, botany, or agriculture is preferred. Experience: Prior experience in gardening, farming, or landscaping is essential.
