Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Western Alzheimers is currently recruiting for  Trainee Dementia Specific - Healthcare Assistants within our In-Home Respite Sitter Service.  

This is a CE Placement  Programme and a great opportunity for someone looking to return to work, up-skill and gain further knowldge and practical experience working with our Elderly clients living who reside  in their own home   where we provide a person-centred service.  Are you someone who enjoys using your initiative, creativity & talents. 

Are you kind, reliable,patient, good listener who enjoys the prospects of working in a supportive capacity with an Elderly Person in their own home. Full Training & support provided to staff.  Our In-home respite sitter service may be the perfect job for you, while also allowing you to further your career, by participating in healthcare support training which will help you achieve your QQI /FETAC Level 5. Coaching and mentoring will be provided, to develop your confidence and competencies within your role. 


Duties include caring for people with Alzheimers Disease/Dementia, assisting with personal care, preparing meals, social engagement, Cognitive stimulating therapeutic activities etc.
