Experienced Addiction Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse – Community Role | Dublin 1 NMBI Registered | Harm Reduction | Community-Based Care Location: Dublin 1, North Inner City Contract: Permanent / Indefinite (subject to funding) Salary: €46,226 per annum Hours: 35 hours per week | Monday–Friday (daytime with flexibility) This role is for nurses who already understand addiction — and want to do the work properly. We are recruiting an experienced Addiction Nurse to join a community-based Multidisciplinary Health Team supporting people with substance use, mental health challenges, homelessness and complex health needs in Dublin 1. Applications are welcomed from: Registered General Nurses (RGN) with solid addiction experience Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN) with addiction, dual-diagnosis or community mental health backgrounds This is not an entry-level role. It requires clinical confidence, emotional intelligence and a clear understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed practice and recovery-oriented care. Your Impact as an Addiction / Community Nurse Working across outreach, primary care and community settings, you will: Deliver specialist addiction nursing care in community and outreach environments Provide harm-reduction interventions, overdose response and health education Support dual-diagnosis clients with addiction and mental health needs Manage wound care, BBV prevention, chronic illness and relapse prevention Conduct domiciliary visits across Dublin 1 and surrounding communities Work closely with GPs, psychiatrists, social workers, housing and addiction services Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and confidentiality Contribute to MDT case reviews, audits and service improvement Model non-judgmental, dignified and inclusive care at all times Essential Requirements NMBI registration as: Registered General Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (Active PIN for 2025 or full eligibility at final registration stage) Demonstrated experience in addiction services (community, residential or outreach) Currently living in Ireland and available to work on-site in Dublin 1 Legal right to work in Ireland (no visa sponsorship) Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles. International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16 Fluent English (verbal and written) Desirable (but not essential) Experience in harm reduction, methadone programmes or dual diagnosis Background in community mental health, homelessness or marginalised populations Training in trauma-informed care or motivational interviewing Salary & Benefits €46,226 annual salary 35-hour working week with work–life balance Core hours 9am–5pm (Mon–Fri) with flexibility between 8am–8pm when required Permanent / fixed-term contract (funding dependent) Access to ongoing training, CPD and clinical supervision Supportive, progressive, values-led healthcare environment
