Carlow Youth Training (CYT) is a Community Training Centre (CTC), which, in association with Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB), provides vocational, educational and life skills training to early school leavers (16-21 years) using a learner centred approach. Our courses are designed to enable the learner to reach their full potential at their own pace. Our learners are supported to achieve new skills as well as the certification necessary for progression into employment, further training or continued education. The role of CTC Instructor responds to learner needs through the provision of flexible training options, which ultimately supports their move into the workplace, or further learning environments.

The Board of Carlow CYT invites applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals for the position of:

Woodwork Instructor – Part Time (14-Hours)
Applicants should possess:
A recognised diploma / trade qualification in Carpentry area or similar
A relevant education / training qualification, e.g. Train the Trainer
At least 3 years relevant work experience in a similar field
Experience of working with young people aged 16 – 21 years
A learner centred and flexible approach to training and meeting learner needs
Good Information Technology Skills
Excellent communication and teamwork Skills
An awareness of QQI Level 3 & 4 related modules and the National Framework of Qualifications
Applicants ideally should have experience of delivering QQI Level3 & 4 training modules in the following subjects: Woodwork, Construction Studies, Health & Safety Awareness.

Duties will include:
Assessment and monitoring of learner course work in the relevant skills area to QQI Level 3 & 4.
Assisting with the planning, development and implementation of CTC programmes and services within a Quality Assurance framework and other duties as appropriate
To deliver training in modules which lead to the QQI Level 3 & 4
To provide a Keyworker support service to learners
Supervision of learners
The salary scale for this position is €13,300.56 to €23,732.80 with two LSI included. Starting point may apply. All appointments are subject to Garda vetting and receipt of satisfactory references. Late applications will not be considered and shortlisting may apply.
