The overall objective of this post is to provide technical support to staff and undergraduate veterinary medicine
students during veterinary anatomy and pathology practical teaching sessions. The appointee will be located
primarily at Teagasc Kildalton College with responsibility for the set-up and running of the veterinary anatomy
and pathology dissection laboratories. They will source and preserve cadavers for teaching and research,
ensuring compliance with all health and safety, biosecurity, and legislative requirements. The role involves the
development and implementation of SOPs, risk assessments, and safety protocols, liaising with suppliers, and
assisting with the safe handling of large animals as required. They must ensure laboratories are clean, well
maintained, and adequately resourced. The postholder may be required to travel periodically to the SETU Cork
Road campus to undertake duties as assigned. The appointee must be flexible, use their own initiative and
adapt to new technical challenges to enhance the services of the Department.
