Provide trauma-informed care to children and families, including assessment, counselling, and support for those affected by trauma. 

Act as a resource for child care providers, offering training and coaching to incorporate trauma-informed practices. 

Work with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care for children. 

Maintain confidentiality and follow proper procedures for handling sensitive information related to child trauma. 

Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in trauma care. 

This description outlines key responsibilities and skills required for a role in child trauma care.
 
Key Responsibilities and Duties:  
Meeting the child and introducing the service 
Accompanying the child as they lodge their application for international protection at the International Protection Office (IPO) 
Supporting the child with the questionnaire for submission to the IPO. This may involve working with sensitive topics as the child may speak about trauma.  

Keep up to date on matters relating to international protection in Ireland, especially as they relate to children engaging with that process 

Therapeutic Environment: Create a therapeutic environment through relationship-building and positive interactions. 

Qualified staff members QQI level 7 or 8 in  (social care, nursing, psychology, teacher etc). If they have a qualification in nursing, they must be registered with the Irish nursing council in Ireland and their qualification must be recognised in Ireland.

All candidates need full drivers licence suitable to drive in Ireland,

They must have a min 1yr experience in working with adolescents who have displayed challenging behaviour (aggression, violence towards staff, property damage, suicidal ideation, running away etc)

They must have a good understanding of Irish safeguarding legislation and be able to discuss the National Standards for children’s residential centres, HIQA 2018.

They must have all overseas documents (qualification, vetting, transcripts etc) verified in the country they were obtained in.
The must have an excellent standard of spoken English and must understand what children’s residential homes are.
