This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
This six-month placement offers hands-on experience within a busy communications agency, giving participants direct exposure to how campaigns are planned, executed and delivered across PR, social media, influencer marketing and events. Rather than operating in a purely observational capacity, the participant will work as part of the team, contributing to live client projects from the outset. Day-to-day involvement will include supporting content creation, assisting with campaign rollouts, and contributing to the organisation of events and brand activations. The role is designed to provide a clear understanding of how an agency operates, from managing timelines and responding to opportunities, to supporting creative output and maintaining strong client standards. The participant will develop practical skills across digital content, communications and campaign support, while gaining insight into the pace and expectations of agency life. Guidance and support will be provided throughout, with the opportunity to build confidence, take on responsibility over time, and contribute meaningfully to ongoing work.
The participant will receive formal and informal training in the following: As part of this placement, a structured training plan totalling 60 hours will be delivered, combining accredited learning with practical, on-the-job experience. Formal Training: WPEP QQI Work Experience Module (via Education & Training Board) Introduction to Social Media Marketing (e.g. Meta Blueprint or equivalent) Business Communication Skills, including professional email writing and reporting Informal Training: Supporting the delivery of PR, social media and influencer campaigns Creating and scheduling content across digital platforms Assisting with event coordination and brand activations Monitoring media coverage and contributing to campaign reporting Learning internal tools, processes and workflows used within an agency environment Participating in team meetings, briefings and project planning sessions Developing organisational, communication and time management skills through day-to-day responsibilities Training will be delivered on an ongoing basis, with guidance and feedback from experienced team members to support development throughout the placement.
