First Year Apprentice Vacancy TOBIN is delighted to partner with SOLAS and the Atlantic Technological University (ATU – Galway & Sligo) to offer an exciting opportunity to “earn while you learn” and begin your engineering career through a fully recognised Level 7 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship Programme. This structured apprenticeship runs over three years and combines academic learning with real, practical industry experience. We are now seeking two First-Year Apprentice Civil Engineers to join our teams in Galway: 1 Apprentice – Water & Utilities Division 1 Apprentice – Building & Infrastructure Division These roles would ideally suit a mature student or an individual seeking a career change into the engineering and construction sector. What You Can Expect: As an Apprentice Civil Engineer at TOBIN, you will: * Work four days per week with our engineering teams gaining hands-on project experience. * Attend online college lectures one day per week through ATU. * Participate in monthly in-person lab workshops at the ATU Galway campus. * Be paired with a dedicated mentor to support your development throughout the programme. TOBIN is an Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer, committed to staff learning and growth. You will also have access to our internal TOBIN Learning Centre and be supported on your pathway towards future professional accreditation. Our teams work on critical national projects across Ireland, contributing to the development of modern, resilient infrastructure. Qualifications, Skills & Attributes: We are looking for candidates with: Leaving Certificate or equivalent, including a Pass in Mathematics at Level 5 Strong literacy, verbal and numeracy skills Good IT and computer skills An interest or basic understanding of engineering concepts and technical drawings A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn A genuine interest in civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction Key Duties & Responsibilites: During your apprenticeship, you will assist with: Preparing project proposals, reports and tender documentation Supporting the development of feasibility studies and preliminary designs Producing design drawings and technical specifications Working with senior engineers to progress projects from concept to delivery Attending internal and client meetings (accompanied by senior team members) Following all relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirements Attending required academic lectures, workshops, and annual residential study weeksFor more information please see apprenticeship.ie
