Horticulture Worker (Skilled)

Location: Ballygarvan, Co. Cork
Salary: €32,500 – €34,000 per year (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Horticulture Worker to join our team in Ballygarvan, Co. Cork. This role involves the care, maintenance, and commercial production of plants in a busy nursery environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring plant health, quality control, and efficient nursery operations, working with a variety of plant species and following structured growing programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain plant health, including identification and treatment of pests, diseases, and deficiencies

Implement irrigation, feeding, and fertilisation programmes in line with seasonal growing schedules

Carry out pruning, propagation, and general plant husbandry

Inspect incoming plant stock to ensure quality and disease-free standards

Maintain accurate records of plant care routines and treatments

Operate and maintain horticultural equipment and tools safely and efficiently

Ensure compliance with health & safety and hygiene standards

Support overall nursery operations during peak seasonal periods

Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ experience in horticulture, plant production, or nursery work

Practical knowledge of plant care, pest control, and growing systems

Ability to identify common plant diseases and nutrient deficiencies

Experience working with horticultural equipment and irrigation systems

Good level of English and ability to follow technical instructions

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
