Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.



Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. 

A driver is required to drive an 8 seater for Bishopstown Senior Social Centre, Wilton Park House, Bishopstown Cork.
Transport the elderly to and from Bishopstown Senior Social Centre
Maintain a clean and mechanically sound 8 seater
Obey all traffic laws
Perform inspections of the 8 seater before and after trips
Ensure safety of all passengers while driving
Assist passengers getting in and out of the 8 seater safely
Relay of vital information from family of elderly if appropriate to Bishopstown Senior Social Centre staff 

Criteria
No at fault traffic accidents in the last five years
Clean driving record for 5 years, no penalty points
Ability to carry out assigned route on-time
Excellent communication & organizational skills
Monitor vehicle parts and advise sponsor on same
Have an excellent knowledge of local routes and geography in and around the Bishopstown and Wilton areas
Have a basic knowledge of Health & Safety issues
Ability to drive skillfully
Clean B Driving Licence required, driving an 8 seater
