Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

To register your interest you can contact an Employment Personal Advisor (EPA) in your local Intreo Centre.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.



Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

Would you like to gain valuable experience while making a real difference in your community? The Irish Wheelchair Association is offering Community Employment (CE) positions supporting people with physical and sensory disabilities in our Day Centre. 

Your work will include:
•	Supporting Members during daily activities in the Day Centre
•	Assisting with leisure activities such as boccia, arts & crafts, drama, cooking and social events
•	Accompanying Members on outings and community trips
•	Assisting with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner
•	Helping with bus transport runs (pickup and drop-off service)
•	Safely operating lifting equipment and securing wheelchairs on buses
•	Providing general assistance and light cleaning duties
•	Working as part of a friendly and supportive team
