WWT, Rosslare Hbr Sc, Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford, Y35 Y67AReporting to: The Directors, Wexford Walking Trails CLG. Location: On-site and work from home. Wexford Walking Trails CLG (WWT) is a network of Community Trail Management Organisations (CTMOs) and wish to recruit a Trails Manager to oversee essential maintenance on walking trails located on state managed land (Coillte, NPWS, Council). The Wexford Rural Recreation Officer (RRO) oversees the portion of the network located on privately owned land. The Trails Manager will work closely with CTMOs, Wexford County Council (WCC), Coillte and other State landowners and the RRO. This is primarily a field-based position. Administration is handled by the WWT Office. Key Tasks: Ensure that the relevant trails in the WWT network are maintained to Sport Ireland guidelines. Ensure all required actions outlined in Sport Ireland audit reports are promptly carried out. Scope, specify, procure and supervise approved contractors to carry out small scale mechanical maintenance works as required. Other Responsibilities: Coordinate trail maintenance with CTMOs, Coillte and other state landowners, WCC, and the RRO. In co-operation with the WWT Office ensure a full record is kept of all monitoring and maintenance work. Gather feedback from CTMOs, landowners, trail users and other stakeholders. Attend Board and Member meetings of Wexford Walking Trails CLG. Qualifications and Experience A qualification in Outdoor Pursuits or the Rural Development area is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of and participation in countryside recreation, walking, hiking, etc. and/or trail development. Previous experience of construction, procurement, and contractor supervision. Experience of working with community organisations in a professional or voluntary capacity. Ability to work on his/her own initiative and also in close association with key agencies and individuals. Knowledge and interest in natural heritage and the environment. Good interpersonal and communication skills. A current driving licence and access to private transport. Willingness to undertake training in areas relevant to the post. Computer skills and access to Wifi. Remuneration for the post: The position is a part-time salaried position for 2 days/week and remuneration will be €15,000 - €17,000 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. The position will involve travel to locations around the network which will be included as part of working hours. Vouched expenses and mileage allowance will be paid.
