Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. 

 The position is based in Arklow Cancer Support and in Árus Lorcáin.
Repairs & Maintenance. Assists in repairing and maintaining various items, (e.g. furniture, windows, doors and bathroom fixtures 
Painting of rooms, garden equipment and buildings
 Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items in safe operating condition for the department 
 Cleaning; Cleans landscaped areas and related items (e.g. storm drains, walkways, roads, etc.) for the purpose of preventing flooding and removing waste or hazards
* Cleaning of smoking bins, domestic waste bins and Recycling materials 
 Grounds keeping. Maintains groundskeeping equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in a safe operating condition 
 Maintains landscaping. Mowing, weeding, fertiliser, spraying weeds and wood cutting for the purpose of preserving grounds in a healthy and attractive condition 
 Gardening: Upkeep of plants and various landscaping materials e.g. lawns, shrubbery, flowers, trees, hedges, weeding, etc., for the purpose of keeping the areas attractive 
 Preparation: Prepares grounds (e.g. avenues, flower beds, banks, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate, attractive and safe areas for community gatherings, assemblies, recreational activities and relaxation 
 Health & Safety; Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues. 
 General Maintenance: Upkeep and renovations of the existing building, workshop, storage sheds and surrounding grounds 
 Community events: to help lay out the function rooms, refreshments and facilities for community events. Help to clean up after these events
Cars, helping with cleaning and preparation of cars for support services
