Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.



Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. 

The aim of this programme is to provide you with the opportunity of acquiring knowledge in the area of childcare whilst gaining experience working in a Childcare Setting. Duties to include assisting childcare leader on a daily basis in the general running of the facility; to assist with daily activities; to meet the needs of the children in your care; organise and supervise play, arts & crafts, etc. You will achieve a Level 5 QQI  Childcare qualification in Early Learning and Care stage 1, which will enable you to obtain employment in childcare. Candidates must be prepared to dedicate themselves to classes and study. Childcare training is a mandatory part of this role, so a good understanding of spoken and written English is essential. A Genuine interest in working with children, flexibility and a good level of English is required. Based in Aras Eoghain Childcare Community Centre, Portlaoise..
